The service purpose came before the commercial model. The question was how to give that purpose a more durable foundation.
Good Ground begins with a commitment to children and youth, not with a technology product in search of a cause. The founder’s account of the company’s development returns to a practical concern: important work needs resources and relationships that can continue.
The formal mission is simple enough to state in one sentence: Improving the Lives of Young Children and Youth. Building an institution capable of serving that mission is a much larger task.
A history of interest and service
The founder describes more than twenty years of continuous study and work connected to early childhood development and youth behavioral studies. He also describes earlier community service through Path 4 NC Kids in North Carolina during the disruption of 2020–2022.
In his recollection, the work involved receiving and distributing food while families faced interrupted routines and employment. The memory is not only of the food itself, but of the coordination required: receiving, storing, organizing and making the next delivery possible.
That history is presented here as the founder’s account. Detailed quantities, named historical collaborations and reported media coverage require contemporaneous verification before they are published as established facts. The meaning of the experience can be told without turning uncertain details into promotional claims.
Immediate help and enduring capacity
A service can matter deeply in the moment and still be difficult to sustain. The founder’s concern is with that difference. A worthwhile mission should not depend entirely on a short grant cycle, an unpredictable contribution or the continued availability of one person.
This does not dismiss the value of donors, partners or public support. It recognizes that outside support and internal capacity are different parts of a financial foundation. An organization needs to understand both.
Commercial enterprise became part of the response. The intention is to build businesses that meet real customer needs and can help create resources for the mission over time. That intention carries its own responsibilities: reliable service, sound operations and an honest account of financial performance.
Technology as part of the work
The founder describes more than seventeen years working with WordPress. That experience is distinct from his background in children’s development. It contributes to a commercial and infrastructure strand of the company, including SiteHeros and the developing idea of community-program websites.
The connection is not that every technical service is itself a child-development program. It is that useful commercial work and suitable infrastructure can contribute to the capacity around a longer-term mission.
SiteHeros customers should choose its services for their business value. Good Ground’s mission does not replace the obligation to deliver those services well.
A commitment with a defined basis
On October 31, 2026, the founder approved allocating 70% of net profits company-wide from commercial ventures, including SiteHeros, toward the mission. This is an approved commitment, not an owner decision still awaiting approval.
Its basis is equally important: net profits. It is not 70% of gross sales or each customer payment, and it is not a report that funds have already been transferred. Implementation and reporting must make those distinctions visible.
The commitment gives the financial model a clear direction. It does not remove the need for feasibility, qualified people, appropriate governance and responsible program development.
A future larger than one project
The Good Ground Campus is the most substantial long-term expression of the vision. It proposes age-appropriate settings for early childhood, school-age continuity and youth development within a larger campus.
The founder’s ambition is multigenerational. He imagines the work continuing long enough for children who once attended to return as parents and later as grandparents whose grandchildren attend. That is a picture of continuity, not a claim of an existing institution or an announced opening date.
The wider free community and The Village’s approved program-site network are other developing parts of the story. They are intended to connect people and useful work without making every participant a website operator or every independent program a Good Ground service.
What beginning responsibly looks like
At this stage, Good Ground can publish its purpose, explain its model, develop commercial work, examine evidence and prepare relationships and plans. It should be equally clear about what is not yet operating.
The company is Good Ground Serves LLC. A possible future foundation is not presented as an incorporated or tax-exempt organization. The campus is not open for enrollment. Proposed learning opportunities are not reported as completed impact.
Those distinctions do not diminish the ambition. They give it a truthful starting point. Good Ground was created to pursue work that could endure; building that endurance requires the same care in what we say as in what we hope to do.
